Divorce

Jane handles both contested and uncontested divorces. Whether you and your spouse agree on all terms or need the court to resolve outstanding issues, Jane will guide you through the process clearly and efficiently — minimizing cost and conflict wherever possible.

Parenting Time

Parenting time arrangements determine when each parent spends time with the children. Jane works to establish fair, workable schedules that reflect the children's best interests and your family's unique circumstances.

Decision-Making Responsibility

Decision-making responsibility (formerly called custody) determines who has the authority to make major decisions about a child's education, health, religion, and extracurricular activities. Jane helps clients understand their rights and reach workable arrangements.

Child Support

Child support in Ontario is governed by the Federal Child Support Guidelines. Jane assists clients in calculating the correct amount, negotiating agreements, and enforcing or varying existing orders when circumstances change.

Children's Aid Law

Jane assists clients in defending all Children's Aid Society (CAS) matters — also known as child protection or Child and Family Services proceedings. This includes Crown Wardship, Society Wardship, and Supervision applications. If the CAS has become involved with your family, Jane can help you understand your rights and mount an effective defence.

Mobility Rights

Mobility cases arise when one parent wishes to move — within Ontario, to another province, or internationally — with a child. Jane represents both parents seeking to relocate and parents seeking to prevent relocation, with a focus on the legal tests courts apply and the evidence that matters most.

Emergency Motions

Some family law situations require immediate court intervention — such as a risk of harm to a child, an imminent move, or a sudden change in circumstances. Jane is experienced in bringing and responding to emergency motions and can act quickly when the situation demands it.

Restraining Orders & Police Assistance

Where safety is a concern, Jane can assist with restraining order applications and, in extreme situations, coordinate with police assistance. These remedies are available in specific circumstances and Jane will advise you honestly on whether they apply to your situation.

Motion to Change

Life changes — and so do family circumstances. If there has been a material change in circumstances since your original order was made, a Motion to Change allows you to ask the court to vary parenting, support, or other terms. Jane handles both bringing and defending these motions.

Document Preparation

Not everyone needs full representation. Jane offers limited scope retainer services — meaning she can prepare or review specific documents, draft agreements, or assist with selected court appearances without taking on the full file. This is a cost-effective option for parties who are largely self-represented but need professional assistance at key points.
